I am looking for a few friends that are willing to teach me how to properly fish the island and adjacent areas. Seining giging rod deep drop grouper snapper. Everything that swims to be honest.

Let me start by saying welcome to the area. As for helping you out I will try and answer any questions you may have. I am more of a Inshore Fisherman now compared to what I use to do. Owning a Tackle Shop limits my time on the water hence the reason I have made the message board and started South Brunswick Anglers to help folks in the same situation you are in.
Inshore here has some of the best fishing that can be experienced from spot to tarpon they all frequent our inshore waters. Most of my fishing time is Spent on Oceancrest pier where I target Kings Spanish Trout Flounder Cobia Sheep head and Red Drum.
The waters will start producing Blowfish Whiting Croaker Kings Cobia Spanish Flounder and Trout in and around April Really Depends on the water temps. As for the back waters right now Reds and Trout are the main targets with Trout being the primary target. The trout can be caught using live bait under a cork or fishing a Mirrolure SLOW if you think you are fishing slow enough slow down some more.
The wrecks just off the beaches produce a nice mixture of species when the temps are right.....
Also as a side note South Brunswick Anglers hold monthly Seminars and give folks a chance to interact with other local fisherman and most importantly Make friends and fishing buddies. If you have any other questions in regard's to specific species lures baits etc. feel free to ask and I will see what I can do to answer them for you. We are just getting this forum started and it is contributions like yours that can help us become the best fishing forum on the net.
